cacophony

I want to write a beautiful cacophony
a thousand jumbled sounds
a hundred chords and dissidents
a score of melodies at arms
a cacophony shot through with rests
the music is in the silence
in the pulsing accelerando
of nothings
many voices one pulse
and one by one the voices will collapse
until pure minors are left
awkward cacophonous chords
beautiful dissonances of sound
that single melody emerges
a cannon in reverse
on refrain, suddenly exposed
plays faster and faster; running away
‘til it falls to a single note
by a single contrabass
one bare jewel of sound
alone
then joined
swelling
rising
the most perfect major chord ever heard
I want to write the beauty
of a cacophony
